Molex Mini-Fit Overmolded Cable Assemblies | First Look

Welcome to First Look, brought to you by Digi-Key and Molex. Molex's Mini-Fit Junior, double-ended, overmolded cable assemblies provide strain relief to reduce mechanical stress on wires and terminals in wire-to-wire and wire-to-board applications. These off-the-shelf cable assemblies are available in multiple circuit sizes and cable lengths for design flexibility and a rugged signal connection. The overmolded strain relief reduces mechanical stress on the wires and terminals. Positive latching ensures secure retention when the receptacle and header, or receptacle and plug, are mated to prevent accidental unmating. The polarized mating geometry prevents mismatching. The terminals of the Mini-Fit junior provide 4 independent points of contact to offer redundant, secondary current paths for long-term electrical performance and reliability. The terminal polarization tabs ensure the terminals are fully inserted into the plugs and receptacles to reduce the risk of terminal backout. The Mini-Fit cable assemblies are capable of delivering 8.4 amps of current, operate at up to 300 volts, and have a dielectric withstanding voltage of 2000 VAC, and insulation resistance of 10 megaohms. The cables can support a minimum of 100 mating cycles with a maximum insertion force of 15 newtons and a minimum retention force of 30 newtons. Molex Mini-fit Junior overmolded cables operate at temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius and have a UL 94 V 2 flammability rating, making them well-suited for consumer products such as personal workstations, office equipment, gaming machines, and servers.
