Wireless Doorbell Reference Design

Renesas' RL78/G11 and ISL80505 application uses built-in sub-GHz wireless communication to notify a remote receiver

Image of Renesas' Wireless Doorbell Transmitter and ReceiverRenesas' quick solutions feature a reference design for a wireless doorbell solution that will notify a remote receiver when a doorbell is pressed. The transmitter and the receiver utilize a built-in RL78/G1H sub-GHz wireless communication module, which is controlled by the RL78/G11 microcontroller (MCU). The ISL80505 single-output low-dropout regulator (LDO) assists in receiver power management by offering 500 mA output current at an input from 1.8 V to 6 V, providing extremely stable voltage.

When pressing the transmitter button, an LED will light up and wireless communication commences. When the signal is received by the receiver, its LED will also blink, and a speaker will emit sounds. This design is suitable for use in homes and offices.
