Ezurio Nitrogen95 SMARC Evaluation Kit - Unboxing | DigiKey

We take a look at the Nitrogen95 SMARC Evaluation Kit from Ezurio. It features Ezurio’s NXP i.MX 95-based SMARC SOM for developing touchscreen, AI and vision applications at the edge across industrial, commercial, and medical markets

Inside the box, you’ll find the fully assembled evaluation kit, which includes the SMARC SOM on a carrier board with integrated Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth module, a 7-inch touchscreen display, a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna , a dual DB9 serial cable, and a power supply. The kit is also offered with an 8.3 megapixel camera for vision and AI applications.

In this demo we’re going to connect to run a thermostat example that’s part of the pre-installed Boot2Qt Demo Launcher.

For connectivity, we’re using Ethernet. Plug in the power supply and wait for the evaluation kit to boot into the Boot2Qt demo launcher. Launch the getting started application and you’ll see the IP address for the board when connected through ethernet. We’ll use that to start an SSH session.

If you’re using QT Creator, you can go to Preferences - Devices - Add… and follow the wizard to add your device. Once connected you can use this to run, debug, and test your own applications. For now, we’ll open a remote shell. Here we can enter lscpu to see the i.MX 95’s 6 core Arm Cortex-A55 running at up to 1.8 gigahertz. Not shown are the Cortex-M7, Cortex -M33, and NXP eIQ Neutron NPU. We can also run free -h to see our memory usage and df -h to see our file system.

On EVK, we can go back to the main menu and launch the thermostat demo. This starts with an overview of the home, but we can also navigate through the demo to change settings for individual rooms or see our temperature versus energy usage.
