Infineon PSOC Edge E84 HMI Kit - Unboxing | DigiKey

We take a look at the PSOC Edge E84 HMI Kit from Infineon. It provides wireless connectivity, sensors and interfaces to start developing HMI and Edge AI designs based on the PSOC Edge E84 MCU. Inside the box, you’ll find the PSOC Edge E84 HMI Kit and a USB-C cable. The kit features an application-centric form factor with the PCB behind the 3.95 inch capacitive touch display. It has a USB camera, analog and digital microphones, an audio amplifier and speaker, and multiple sensors. In this video we’re going to demonstrate some of the PSOC Edge E84’s edge AI processing capabilities using this HMI kit. Connect your PC to the kit’s USB-C port labeled KITPROG3. If needed, you can go to devkit.infineon.com to update the kit’s firmware from your browser and see the available demos. The kit will boot into the pre-programmed smart thermostat demo. Even without an internet connection, the demo runs entirely on the device, with all processing performed locally. We can use touchscreen controls, but there are also microphones on board so we can use the wake word “Okay thermostat” followed by a command. For example, “okay thermostat, reduce the temperature by two degrees.” The setpoint will change, cooling will turn on, and it will simulate the change in temperature. I can also connect the kit to my phone via Bluetooth or connect it to Infineon’s cloud platform via Wi-Fi, and then control the thermostat functions from the associated app. There are various Code Examples to evaluate the PSOC™ Edge E84 HMI kit, which will also familiarize you with PSOC™ Edge E84 MCU and help you create your own design.
