Phoenix Contact TC Router 3002T-4G GL - Unboxing | DigiKey

We take a look at the TC Router 3002T-4G GL from Phoenix Contact. It provides secure, global 4G connectivity for flexible site networking in industrial automation and IIoT applications. Inside the box, you’ll find the TC Router 3002T-4G GL. It features two ethernet ports, two antenna sockets, a SIM card slot, and a microSD card slot, plus two digital inputs and one digital output. In this demo, we’re going to setup the router so it sends an email whenever a digital input goes high. Place your SIM card in the holder and insert it back into the router. Connect at least one suitable antenna, and use an ethernet cable to connect directly to your PC so you can access the web management interface and configure the router. Then connect the router to a 24 volt power supply. Once the router boots up, open a browser and go to 192.168.0.1. The default username and password are both admin. You’ll be prompted to change your password on the first login. Expand the wireless network menu and go to the SIM menu. Select your region and click set. For most SIM cards you can leave provider on auto and let it detect the APN, but with my DigiKey Dataplans AT&T SIM card I had to select override internet APN and use the APN provided in the RevX activation email. Then go to Packet Data Setup and enable it. You can also go to SMS configuration and enable that if your plan supports it, and you can go to the system menu to setup the router to send emails. Otherwise, expand the Status menu and select Radio. You should see the network status as registered, but the first connection can take a few minutes to complete activation. Under I/O then Inputs, I have it configured to send an email anytime input 2 goes high. Now, when I drive the input high, I get an email letting me know of the status change. You could use this for alarms, triggers, or any other device with a digital output to alert to status changes in the network.
