In summary, the SLB series from Nichicon has some of the best features of an EDLC and a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. With better power density than a Li-ion rechargeable battery and more energy than an EDLC, it is capable of withstanding up to 20,000 charge/discharge cycles and it still maintains its capability at temperatures as low as -30°C. One of the best features is its safety. In testing, it did not ignite when it was crushed or pierced. All of this in a part that can be board mounted with no special carriers.
