Banner Engineering K100 Programmable Display Beacon - Unboxing | DigiKey

We take a look at the K100 Programmable Display Beacon from Banner Engineering. It combines a color status indicator and alphanumeric display in one unit with 360 degree visibility to communicate information at any angle. Inside the box, you’ll find the K100 programmable display beacon and mounting hardware. It features an IP66 and IP69K, rugged housing for industrial applications. On the bottom there is a 5-pin M12 connector, and the K100 is available with discrete, IO-link, and Modbus connectivity, plus audible alerts. In this demo, we’re going to program the K100 using Banner’s Pro Editor software and Pro Converter cable kit, which provides power and a USB connection to program the K100. Connect the single end of the splitter to the K100 and connect the config cable and power supply to the other side. Plug the power supply in and plug the converter cable into a USB port on your computer. The config cable should have a steady amber LED and blinking green LED. Banner’s Pro Editor software should auto-detect the converter cable. Once connected, we can run a demo that will show some different configurations and give you an idea of how the K100 can be used. Factory Reset will stop the demo. You can see various ways to configure the K100, but for this demo we’ll go to Discrete Control, then Basic. This configures the demo to be controlled by the input to each wire or pin. We’ll configure the black wire or pin 4 to flash the LED red and change the display text. Clicking start will show what we’ve configured on the K100. It has a 32 character display that is visible from 10 meters plus 14 color options for the top indicator, providing clear visibility and status indication.
